The first place that I have noticed this is actually where the prompt to "hit
enter to install or upgrade" or "hit F1 for help" screen comes up. I do not know
how much of the Kernel is loaded at this time. My personal suspicion is that
LILO has dropped the USB association that the BIOS has set up to treat a USB
keyboard as a PS2 (or whatever) keybard.

I do not know enough about the parts involved, however I believe that the kernel
needs the usb-hid (usb-Human interface Device) modules loaded to use a keybard,
but the mouse drivers know how to talk to a USB mouse without the usb-hid
module. If the Installer is using a stripped down kernel, this may be where the
problem comes in.

As a side observation when rebooting the system, LILO does not recognize a usb
keyboard, meaning that all the menu options that are not the default boot are
unavailable without a ps2 keyboard. I think this should be considered a seprate
bug. My personal suspicion there is that the developers of LILO have bypassed
the bios and are accessing the keyboard port directly using built in drivers. If
that is the case, then that may be why the usb keyboard feature of the bios is
unavailable to the Installer as well.

description:
When installing via boot CDs, USB is able to identify and work with USB mice,
but not USB keyboards. This will make instalation onto platforms without PS/2 or
AT keyboards difficult at best.
