Is there a practical or imposed limitation on size of list names?

I recently had a request to change the size of a field which is
used to store listnames. Was wondering just how long the field
should be.

As far as the OS is concerned none that I am aware of, but from a practical
viewpoint yes. I would think that the shorter the list name can be the
better from a practical viewpoint.

Who wants to enter "this-is-my-list-and-welcome-to-it@whatever" when they
can enter "mylist@whatever"?

Regards,
Pete
