The VLC-devel port already uses this patch:

https://trac.macports.org/browser/trunk/dports/multimedia/VLC-devel/files/dispatch_queue_serial.patch


It would be best to keep the VLC and VLC-devel ports as similar as possible, so maybe \
you can use (a copy of) this same patch for VLC.
