Well, "large" being subjective both could be true. Do you still have  
your Panther machine? Well there you go :)

True, other then security patches like the recent postfix and pure- 
ftpd tls patches. But it's easy enough to maintain older hardware/ 
software without official support. My feeling is that MacPorts, and  
Apple for that matter, supports old hardware/software about right.
