It was mentioned earlier that these don't get removed.  In fact, those  
files *define* the port; if you remove them then (a) you will no  
longer be able to do anything at all involving those ports and (b)  
next time you "port sync" they'll come back.

If you use "du" you'll find they're all pretty small.  Most (ideally  
all) of them are text files.
