Hi,

I'm using LyX 1.5.3 on Ubuntu 6.06. (I've never used LaTeX or LyX before.)
I'm trying to export a LyX document to plain text and it's coming out
garbled. I've also tried using all three PDF export options (dvipdfm,
pdflatex, ps2pdf), opening the result in Acrobat Reader, and saving as text.
They each come out garbled as well, in their own unique ways. So far the
best way I've found of exporting to a text file is selecting all in the LyX
display, then copying and pasting into a text editor like gedit, adding
manually editing any references to section numbers and stripping out any
latex formatting.

There must be a better way to do this, right? Do I have to do some special
character encoding voodoo or something? (I've tried searching for a
solution, but apparently I haven't come up with the magic phrase that will
cause Google to produce results relevant to my needs.)

Is this something that will be fixed in 1.6 and I should just suck it up and
wait?

-Mel
