use the package lineno.sty
in latex preamble: 

\usepackage[]{lineno}

in LyX-file:

\begin{linenumbers}
     .....
bla bla bla the text
     .....
\end{linenumbers}

e.g. for options: [switch*,modulo]
linenumbers allways on the inner margin and modulo 5. 

the package is availabe at TeX Archive Network (CTAN) or
