I compiled lynx2-6 on DGUX and the special iso-8859-1 characters are
 shown 'M-D' not 'Ä'.
In the 'lynx -trace'-mode '&Auml;' is converted to 'Ä'.

Why is the normal character-output the Meta-representation?
  The GridText output shows 8-bit-output on the same sreen!
