I have a custom /etc/init.d/rcS in my LXC containers. That file contain some 
lines like 

/etc/init.d/ssh start
/etc/init.d/mysql start
/etc/init.d/apache2 start

This provides a lot of control and prevent a lot of trouble IMHO :)
