The Linux Lustre file system and Linux servers transfer data that is
referenced through the kernel address spaces.

Lib Lustre (running on Windows and Linux presently) can only use the
(TCP) socknal. This transfers data through a socket from user space
on the lib side to the kernel address spaces. For this we use a user
level NAL that can communicate with the kernel NAL's on the other
side.

We will also build user level servers, so then any combination of
address spaces can exist. I think the Portals api needs to be
present, optimally, between any two of the address space choices.
