Now that Maxime mentioned this, I also remember that at some point I had
some problems with LinuxMint-18.3 (based on Ubuntu-16.04).
Switching from ltsp's ppa to ubuntu packages fixed the problem. This is why
I don't recommend using ltsp's ppa on this blog:
http://dashohoxha.fs.al/ltsp-pnp/ (on a previous version they were working
fine and I was using them, but they had a problem on this version and I
updated the blog).
I am not sure it was the same problem that you are seeing, but it is worth
giving it a try.
