I spoke to Gideon Romm and Symbio Technologies (www.thesymbiont.com) a 
while back and he mentioned having a product that would allow local 
booting of a basic operating system, which then provides a remote 
connection to a full operating system.  I think it was able to use ssh, 
VNC, RDP, or NX (and maybe other methods).  You could try asking them 
about it.
