success!! after un-installing the rpm's, deleteing any new/additional files,
re-installing. I have a work server and multiple clients. It seems that my
problem was running "/opt/ltsp/install_scripts/install.sh", this duplicated
the /opt/ltsp/templates and /opt/ltsp/i386 folders.
I am very impressed with LTSP and can only hope it gets better!
Thanks everyone
Patrick

Just a thought, although i have all the required files for running KDE on
the server, it has never been set up as a graphical login only command line,
will this make a difference?

ok here's I think u'r missing a RUNLEVEL =5 in your default section
here's an example:
[Default]
SERVER = 10.0.0.1
XSERVER = auto
X_MOUSE_PROTOCOL = "PS/2"
X_MOUSE_DEVICE = "/dev/psaux"
X_MOUSE_RESOLUTION = 400
X_MOUSE_BUTTONS = 3
USE_XFS = N
LOCAL_APPS = N
RUNLEVEL = 5
[ws001]
XSERVER = auto
LOCAL_APPS = N
USE_NFS_SWAP = N
SWAPFILE_SIZE = 48m
RUNLEVEL = 5
