Edit the main Makefile (top src dir) first. at the top you'll find
EXTRAVERSION; set that like you need it.

now your server probably gets false modules. Don't know how RH does it;
install kernel and modules again or compile it. Keep that EXTRAVERSION in
mind.

take level 3; then issue /tmp/start_ws
