Hi,

I've Win2000 and XP clients printing over LPRNG succesfully everyday.

I suggest you to config the printer by another way. Install the printer
as local (LPT1, for example), and once installed, change it to the new port
via "printers and faxes"->(your printer)->Ports tab->Add Port->Standard
TCP/IP Port.

The TCP/IP port should be configured as :

Printer name or IP address-> Your linux server IP address or DNS
hostname.
Portname -> the queue where send the data to print.

NOTE : another suggestion is to queue your jobs to the equivalent "raw"
port on LPRng. That's if you have an lp, ascii and raw (or something in the
way) ports configured on /etc/printcap, send it to raw. This is as it
because it gives you complete flexibility to control the printer's behaviour
as it would be installed locally (resolution, special features, etc. are
still available even connected to the linux box... great, eh?). I'm doing in
this way and it works right.

This is my configuration for the port for a Samsung ML1450 laser printer
and an Deskjet 895Cxi printer.

Port name : (Samsung) raw (HP) djet820c-raw
        IP address : linux.casa.local (server's DNS hostname)

        Protocol : LPR

Queue Name : (same as port name)

LPR Bytes Accounting Enabled : ON

The unique "problem" I've now is every job sent to LPRng is followed by a
final blank page; but this is related to LPRng configuration (maybe some job
separator), and I don't know (yet) what is causing it.

NOTE2 : Take in care I'm using spanish version of Windows XP and some
values's labels could see different in english releases.

Hope it can help you. If you have troubles or need more info, feel
yourself free to mail me.

   Regards
