Ah, thanks for the readproctitle reminder.  Apparently unison needs HOME to
be set (which makes sense, becuse it stores its synchronizing metadata in
~/.unison).

The logs showed nothing (but then again, I wasn't doing 2>&1 *sigh*).

Right.  Thanks for your time and assistance.  I've got it working now. :)
