Hi Michael,

Did you mean to say the boxes were Alteon 180e? If that is the case then
despite the fact they have been MD'd (manufacture discontinued)as they were
released well over five years ago, you can still find all the documentation
on them without requiring a password on the nortel site.

http://www130.nortelnetworks.com/cgi-bin/eserv/cs/main.jsp?cscat=documentati
on

Just click on "Alteon" and then "180e". Check the ARP stats as the alteon
uses the arp also as a routing table. If that is full, then read the chapter
in the application guide about creating local networks.

If that doesn't help, please send in some more information, like correct
model number, software version and /cfg/dump, /info/dump and /stat/dump.

Regards,

Richard.

Unfortunately I'm stuck maintaining 4 alteon 182s.. the lack of support and
documentation is really frustrating.

Nothing has changed (no configuration changes anyways) to my alteon in about
3 weeks, yet about 3 days ago I stopped being able to send mail to the
network directly in front of my alteon from the network directly behind my
alteon..

Where can I look in the alteon to try to figure this one out? My forwarding
databases are fine, and there doesn't seem to be any specific port filtering
in the alteon. I can telnet to outside network mailservers just fine, but
not to my "not_balanced" network.
