1) Yes, they can. All you are doing is altering the destination IP
address.

2) Yes, unless you also swap-out the source-IP, as with proxy-IP's in the
alteons.

I am not sure if this list is for any specific product . . . 

My two quick questions:
Can  load-balance appliances (e.g. the one you use) load balance 
systems outside of its subnet/network?

Do load-balance appliances (e.g. the one you use)  need to
act as gateway for systems they load-balance?
