Dana,

The older NetScreen 100 firewall had some limited load balancing features
(weighted round robin, and least number of connections) built into the code,
but it is only available in V3.0 or older of the firmware.

We are resellers for both NetScreen and Radware. (www.radware.com) Radware'
s LinkProof is a comprehensive, easy to use content traffic management
solution for networks with multiple Internet links. Increasingly,
organizations such as e-commerce companies, second tier ISPs, and
enterprises are turning to this "multi-homed" design in order to guarantee
100 percent continuous Internet access and an uninterrupted connection
between company branches, suppliers and clients.

LinkProof guarantees complete network availability and offers a fully
scalable solution that grows with your network needs. It provides an
innovative and complete content based traffic management solution for
multi-homed networks that need to be certain in their critical business
applications.

Guarantees Uninterrupted Internet Access: LinkProof continuously monitors
the health of each Internet connection. It checks the path through each
router by periodically monitoring the health of internal and external
network nodes. LinkProof automatically detects failures such as link,
router, DNS server and other failures. This check ensures that only fully
operational routes that are functioning at peak efficiency are used.

The ROI on the LinkProof is very short considering the savings you generate
from eliminating productivity downtime and the credits attained from your
ISPs due to service outages logged by the LinkProof.

LinkProof will also load balance traffic "internally" to your application
servers if required.

Subject: [load balancing] anyone used a netscreen as a load balancer?

Hey folks! I was curious if anyone out there has
any experience using the netscreen firewall appliances
as load balancers? they are pretty affordable little
firewalls, and offer a load balancing option as well.

So I'm curious if anyone has any experience using
them in a basic load-balancing situation. How well
do they do? How featureful are they? One concern
I had is that it looks like (from the command
reference) that they offer decent, basic load balancing
modes, but I don't see any commands for configuring
health checking. eek!

Any feedback would be appreciated!
