Did you try building coretemp, with this patch applied, as module ?

Guess not. platform_thermal_notify is not exported, resulting in the
following error message.

ERROR: "platform_thermal_notify" [drivers/hwmon/coretemp.ko] undefined!

make: *** [modules] Error 2
