Ok, thanks.

I've struggled thru the source-build now anyway.  Glad to
hear that newest installers of SuSE now have this stuff
'builtin'.

I too had looked around for binary RPMs for SuSE to no avail,
so I guess the rumors of separate binary RPMs for SuSE were
incorrect.

I've looked around for independent binary RPM's for SuSE, found only 
those for 6.0, which were very old.

It appears you will have to "roll your own" binaries.
