I ask this question already on this list. I have the same nb. The README is 
obscure in this respect. 

You can try to put the following commands (with your ip-setting) into 
/etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

modprobe prism2_usb prism2_doreset=1 
wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable 
wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_autojoin ssid=sudellan authtype=opensystem 
ifconfig wlan0 192.168.0.2 
route add default gw 192.168.0.1

I did not test this, so be careful!

This will not work, when you use hotplug, because hotplug loads the modules 
earlyer in the wrong way, so that you get this message in syslog:

kernel: p80211knetdev_hard_start_xmit: Tx attempt prior to association, frame 
dropped.
