Hi, I'm still having some wierd problems with 3c597-TX cards; I
haven't had much of a response, so excuse me if I ask again. >=-)> I'm
trying to install a 3Com 3c597-Tx into an AST Premmia SE running RHL 4.0.

Since last I wrote, I've eliminated the 3c509 as having much to do
with the problem; I get the same wierd results with the 3c597-TX all by
itself. 3c59x.c v0.30-all reports it as a 3c592 (10Mb/s) card.

Does 3c59x.c support this particular card? Is this considered a
Boomerang card because the name ends in TX? If so, it looks as if the
driver doesn't support it yet; it does support 3c579 (no TX). Comments?

First of all, I can never get the card to show up as a 3c597-TX. has
anybody tested this card with the 3c59x.c driver? If so, does it show up as
the right model number? It always looks like a 3c592 on my system...

Next, the resources. Regardless of what other cards I do or don't
have in the system, I get trouble; the first time I load 3c59x, it shows up
with address 0x5000, and IRQ 5; this is correct, it seems to work once.

If I unload 3c59x and try to reload, however, It tries to take IRQ3
instead; that's odd. It doesn't work at this point, and further un- or
reloading doesn't help. I also tried 3c59x v0.25, with similar results.

If I load 3c509, it will try to wake up the 3c597-TX card (i've
taken out the 3c509B already, so the 3c597-TX is all that's in there) and it
has that same resource funnies. 3c509 shouldn't find that card, should it?

It doesn't work, of course. I've re-run EISACU and also 3C59XCFG
several times. I hate to be a pest, but I can't seem to get any answers
regarding this problem; does anybody else use this 3c597-TX successfully?

I may be spoiled by the usually snappy net response to linux
problems, but in this case the silence is deafening. >=-(> I would try the
alpha boomerang.c driver, but it only lists the Vortex 3c597, like 3c59x.c.

Thank you in advance for any advice; I could use some. >=-)>
