Subject: [VLAN] Binding apps to VLAN interfaces?

I'm interested in finding out whether it's possible to bind applications to
particular VLAN interfaces on a server, thereby making sure that the source
IP address for packets from application A is X, while the source address for
packets from application B is Y.

This would be particularly interesting if it could be done without modifying
the application. The reason is that it makes it easy for traffic from
unmodified apps to be easily classified by IP routers in the network, e.g.
to assign suitable QoS for bandwidth management.

I'm interested in Linux and Solaris support for this kind of thing. Any
pointers would be very welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Richard
