I think he is talking the 2.4 backport of Alexandre's enhancments
to syncd which amongs other things allowed a master and backup deamon
to run simultanously. This is a lot simpler and more robust than
having to start and stop the daemons when failover occurs and I 
believe it was merged into 2.6. Are there any plans to do the
same for 2.4.

As an asside, I would personally like to see the master and backup
deamons merged into a unified syncd. There seems little reason
to separate the functionality.
