Just upgraded my box to Mandrake 8.0. This included XFree 4.0.3 and
xawtv 3.49. When I attempt to invoke xawtv, I get sound but no
picture. I also get the following error messages:

This is xawtv-3.49, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.3-20mdk)

no way to get: 384x288 32 bit TrueColor (LE: bgr-)

If I attempt to resize the window, the last error is redisplayed with
the new geometry.

I've attempted 16 and 24 bpp, same problems.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
