There is a good pointer to homepage and mailinglist.

Anyway, I'm using devfs with two mixers (mad16.c and my rewritten
aci.c). Works as expected. Depends currently on load time which mixer
is the second. - That's okay. I see no need to change the code again...

crw-------    1 root   root    14,   0 Jan  1  1970 /dev/sound/mixer
crw-------    1 root   root    14,  16 Jan  1  1970 /dev/sound/mixer1
