I met the same problem before. download the higher version of xawtv and the
problem solved.

Hi everyone,

I've just plugged my new Philips webcam to my linux box and want to grab
some pictures and videos to see how does it work... the matter is that
(though the USB dirver seems to installed OK), when I start xawtv I get the
following messages:
/dev/video [v4l]: no overlay support
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
ioctl: VISIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=7,size=160x120): Invalid argument
ioctl: VISIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=5,size=160x120): Invalid argument
ioctl: VISIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=4,size=160x120): Invalid argument
ioctl: VISIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=1,size=160x120): Invalid argument

Anyway, I can see the images displayed by my webcam. But, when I try ti grab
one image to file, I gives me the following error:
no way to get: 384x288 bit TrueColor (LE: bgr-)
no way to get: 384x288 bit TrueColor (LE: bgr-)
ioctl: VISIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=13,size=160x120): Invalid argument
no way to get: 2048x1572 24 bit TrueColor (BE: rgb)

What have I done wrong? THanks in advance and best regards
