Hi, has anyone got the tulip driver to work with revision c5 of
D-Link's 500tx? I'm having no luck with this. I've tried with both
0.79 (comes with kernel 2.0.32) and 0.86I. The card works fine in
W95. At the moment I don't have any other computers that I can connect
to, so I can't do much debugging.

If there's another device alive at the other end of the cable when I
create the interface with ifconfig, the link light starts slowly
blinking. If I try to ping the other end of the cable, results vary;
if it's a ZyXEL ISDN router, I get no reponse, and the packets don't
go out to the network. arp -a tells that the Prestige's HW address is
00:00:00:00:00:00. If I set it right with arp -s, the packets go to
the ZyXEL (it blinks its RX light), but I get no response. I've heard
the beast is slow in responding to pings, so this might be something
of an explanation (or perhaps not; but the replies come with no
problems with W95's ping.)

I've also tried pinging a friends laptop with a 3c589d; now, arp gets
the HW address right, but about 66% of the packets are lost. The
Thinkpad got some error messages like "timed out" or something when
trying to ping my computer with W95's ping.

My, and my friend's (whose judgement I trust a whole lot more in these
matters :-)) guess is that the driver has trouble doing
autodetection. ifconfig tells that the interface is 10Mb, and so does
the card's LED, though.

Suggestions (and especially solutions :-)) would be very much
appreciated.

replies there, too, but will get them a bit faster via email.)
