Subject: Activating video after a serial boot?

When booting with a serial console on a Javastation, the standard
framebuffer console is completely disabled -- no video, no keyboard/mouse.
No X11 for you!

Of course, everything works fine if one boots with the framebuffer
console, but since I frequently find myself working remotely I prefer to
have serial console access.

Is there any way to activate the frambuffer console, etc., *after*
booting?
