I recently installed sparc linux on an SS5 we have. Initially it was
producing thousands of the following errors:
Apr 10 21:39:54 stokes kernel: esp0: STEP_ASEL for tgt 2
Apr 10 21:40:25 stokes last message repeated 222 times
Apr 10 21:41:26 stokes last message repeated 522 times
Scsi target 2 is an external 2GB disk. I did check the cabeling, and it
seemed OK. The same machine worked OK with SunOS 4.1.3 installed, but I
suspect it wouldn't put the same pressure on the SCSI bus. Does anyone
have any suggestions what I should be checking for?
Curiously, now I've found the address of the sparclinux mailing list the
errors seem to have stopped - I guess this points to iffy cabeling with
a sense of timing.
David.
