I also downloaded the 2.4.20 kernel and compiled it. So far I didn't have any problem with X. It started right away without changing any configuration and it worked. The kernel has working drivers for i810/i830/... what I did was to compile it right into the kernel and not as module, maybe that's what you should try. And be sure you configured your X-Server to use the i830m driver ... I just checked my config file: I'm still using the i810 driver but the i830 should work as well. Besides: I have not applied the ACPI patch yet (but I don't think this has to do with the X-Server) greetings, Raphael original message: Do you need to recompile X after switching kernel versions? I know X wanted to know where the kernel source was, etc. Just taking a shot in the dark here... -Greg On Friday 06 December 2002 09:28 am, Atsushi Takahashi wrote: > Hi, > After downloading the new kernel 2.4.20 and patching with ACPI, my > Sony PCG-R505EL hangs when rebooting. I assume X uses the i810.o instead but I haven't verified this. > Everything was fine with kernel 2.4.19 and the ACPI patch since it doesn't > have and i830.o module. > Is there some configuration that I'm missing in XF86Config-4 or > somewhere? > > > Atsushi > > > > _______________________________________________ > Linux-sony mailing list > Linux-sony@returntonature.com > http://returntonature.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-sony > Linux-Sony Documentation: http://returntonature.com/linux/phpwiki _______________________________________________ Linux-sony mailing list Linux-sony@returntonature.com http://returntonature.com/mailman/listinfo/linux-sony Linux-Sony Documentation: http://returntonature.com/linux/phpwiki
