Disabling the secondary IDE controller works but is not acceptable
for what this machine needs to do so for now I am still using the
disable "MPS 1.4 Support" method.

Thanks for the reply.

I see from a web search that Mandrake Forum refers to another
work around at URL: http://mandrakeforum.com/print.php?sid=869
which involves using kernel parameter pirq=15,14,11,9,5,1,0

I have tested this and it does not work for me.

If disabling MPS 1.4 Support (and thus running 1.1 as far as I know)
does not affect performance, then thats OK. Does anyone know what
I am missing out on with MPS 1.1 ? I see from the web that 1.4 is
required for more than 4 CPUs but the machine in question has only
2 1GHz PIIIs.
