While compiling 2.2.1, I got:
free_one_pmd: bad directory entry c1904000
kmem_free: Bad obj addr (objp=c04651c0, name=mm_struct)
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address

I was doing make -j3 bzImage "MAKE=make -j3"
Hardware: Dual pii 266 on an ASUS P2L97-DS, 64mb of ram, 3.5GB Fujitsu
UDMA hard drive.
Load averages hit 25-30 while compiling, I'm assuming it was because of
the "high load bug" thats been reported.
