Hello SMP-folks and developers,

Yesterday i discovered strange things with new kernel 2.1.91 final.

Since January 1998 I use a new ASUS P2L97-DS motherboard with two Pentium II/266 \
overclocked at 300 Mhz. Onboard SCSI controller and 128 MB RAM. I have had NO \
problems, NO lockups, NO hangs since playing with it. Reboot only for new kernel.

I run the new RC5DES-client "Build 2.7017.400 Linux x86 mt updated 03/26/98" \
configured to use both processors and the time to complete a 2^31 Block takes about \
58 minutes.

Switching to kernel pre-2.1.91-2 brings an performance increase, so the time to \
complete a block drops to 42 minutes. GREAT!!!

Now I switched to kernel 2.1.91 final and also tried pre-2.1.92-1 and the time to \
complete an 2^31 block is going back to 58 minutes.

Please check where the performance is going away.

Finaly I will thank all developers for their excellent work on Linux.

Peter.
