Hello:

	We are trying to install a linux in a Fujitsu-Siemens hardware, model Primergy T850, \
4 x Pentium IV Xeon 1.4 GHz, 4Gb memory, DVD rom, a RAID but no disks attached \
directly to server.

We start installing RedHat 9.0 first, but we come to a failure due to the recognition \
of the RAID hardware, the installer stops when trying to start the dpt_i2o module.  \
Then we try with several linux distributions until we come with a successfull install \
with RedHat 8.0 (either Mandrake or Suse give us the same error in this module, we \
try also with RedHat Enterprise 2.1, certified by Fujitsu-Siemens but we come up with \
the same problem)

RedHat 8.0 (kernel 2.4.18-14) is fine for us, but if we can upgrade to something this \
would be better.  The first time we boot the machine we found only two processors \
enabled (one physical and one logical) and the following error messages:

We modify a little the kernel source (btw this became a patch in the next releases) \
to modify the maximun APIC id available.


The problem we have now is the machine has physically four Pentium Xeon 1.4GHz, but \
when the system comes up only two of them are 'recognized' (two physical and two \
logical enabled by hyperthreading), the kernel detects 8 processors, but refused to \
start 4 of them.

Any help would be appreciated
