These warnings won't appear when you use Linux version 2.4.16 or
later.  They appear because 2.4.9 didn't recognize IO APIC version 20
or the '8' part of '00178020'.  Both of these have been added.
The warnings don't affect correct operation.

These warnings aren't related to whatever system hangs you are
having.  Is there any log information that is relevant to the hangs?
Any indications of the problem(s)?  What is the system doing
at the time of the hangs?
