Hi.

I received the following APIC error report and the dmesg requests
I send report to you.

testing the IO APIC.......................

IO APIC #2......
.... register #00: 02000000
....... : physical APIC id: 02
.... register #01: 00178011
....... : max redirection entries: 0017
....... : IO APIC version: 0011
 WARNING: unexpected IO-APIC, please mail
          to linux-smp@vger.kernel.org
.... register #02: 00000000
....... : arbitration: 00
.... IRQ redirection table:

Motherboard is a GigaByte GA-6VTX with VT82C694T & VT82C686B
chipsets.

Problems manifest themselves on Kernel 2.4.10 reporting either a

APIC error on CPU0: 01(01) or

/proc/interrupts showing a ERR: count > 0.

ringtail:/home/gmkelly # cat /proc/interrupts
           CPU0
  0: 106341 IO-APIC-edge timer
  1: 4927 IO-APIC-edge keyboard
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  5: 20 IO-APIC-level e100
  8: 2 IO-APIC-edge rtc
  9: 7139 IO-APIC-level e100, es1371
 10: 85 IO-APIC-level usb-uhci, usb-uhci
 12: 13583 IO-APIC-edge PS/2 Mouse
 14: 12469 IO-APIC-edge ide0
 15: 14 IO-APIC-edge ide1
NMI: 0
LOC: 106281
ERR: 2
MIS: 0

I have appended complete dmesg for further information.

Selecting PIC via the BIOS or using lilo "disableapic"
of course removes the APIC error reports as you would expect.

Hope this all helps.
