I am ready to SCREAM! I've just joined this group tonight. I've scanned th=
rough the messages posted so far and I'm hoping that someone out there can =
help with my problem.
 =

I've got through 3 versions (2 off CD-ROM's and 1 I've downloaded from the =
slackware site) and the same thing keeps happening!!!
 =

I boot up the BOOT and ROOT diskettes (3.5" format.) I run the install prog=
ram (I install just the A disk series) and everything goes just great, I re=
boot my PC and it load from the hard drive. I get to the login prompt and a=
s soon as I type the 'r' to try to logon as root, I get this rrrrrrrrrrrrrr=
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and it repeat ever=
y 10 seconds.

WHAT'S CAUSING THIS? Please can you help me??!??!

I'm installing to an old Zeos 485/50Mhz PC with 16MB RAM and 405 IDE Seagat=
e HD. I've removed Windows 95. I fdisk'd it and re fdisk'd it with Linux. I=
've set 32MB swap partition (type 82) and the remainder as native (type 83)=
. I'm only installing the A disk set. I installed LILO to the Master Boot s=
ector. Everything seems to be going OK until I try to login after the insta=
ll. NO ONE has been able to tell we what's causing this. =

I've just downloaded 3.9 from the slackware site. Please Please Please don'=
t tell me to go get another version. That's all I've been told so far. Try =
Red Hat it works just fine..... Yada yada yada.... =

 =

Any help is much appreciated. BTW, If you can't help perhaps you can forwar=
d this to someone who might be able to. =

 =

Stan. =
