Here's my experience:
There was very little change required in the real-time code because
the older API seems to be fairly well supported. BUT ... There were
significant changes in the API for any loadable module. I spend most of my
migration time converting read/write/ioctl interfaces.

Subject: [rtl] Changing Kernel config
Dear List,
I'm using RTLinux 1.1 on a 2.0.36 kernel for at least 2 years now.
Now I get some probems in getting drivers for a netcard. I have a PC/104
embedded board with Intel 82559er chip on it, and it isn't stable with the
actual driver of Donald Becker.
If I want to change to other drivers, I also have to change the kernel to a
newer one.
So my question: can I use my rt Application as-is in the new e.g. RTlinux
3.0 system with a 2.4 kernel? I heard that there were some changes in the
API?
(BTW: can I get the kernel 2.4 sources and compile it in my old system, or
do I have to change it completely to new libs etc.?)
best regards
Bernd
