is the internal workstation on the same ip network as the router?

https://sourceforge.net/docman/?group_id=13751
look at sec07 for more specific stuff.

In all probability you have a problem between your router and workstation.
posibilities
1. Hardware.
wrong cable (ie cross over when you need a pass thru)
 bad cable.

2. Config.
workstation and router not configured for the same network
 ie workstation 192.168.1.200 255.255.255.0
    router 192.168.0.254 255.255.255.0
    the above won't work

see here as well.

so, heres the deal, got myself an old pentium 75 w/32 megs of ram and am
trying to get it working as a router/firewall for my newly acquired cable
modem. i'm using the idiot image 2.9.8 and followed the how-to even
catching the syntax errors. the network cards work fine, 2 kingston
kne110tx nics. the problem is that i can ping the outside world (internet)
just fine, by ip or fqdn, but as soon as i try pinging the LRP box from a
workstation, it always times out. or when i try to ping a workstation from
the LRP box it also times out......
do i need to configure the routing tables, or something else, i dunno?????
any help is greatly appreciated.
