Hi Gustavo
I hope it's isn't too late already but if not do the folowing:

1. copy the ppp.lrp to the boot diskette. ( as you did)
2. edit the file syslinux.cfg (it's in the / directory of the diskette, it a msdos file
system)
3. add the word 'ppp' at the end of the line that starts with LRP=.... separated with
comma.
3. boot from the diskette.

you will need the ppp and slhc modules to be able to establish the ppp connection.

4. if booted OK you will be presented with a configuration menu. coose 3 (package
settings)
5. choose 2 (modules)
6. choose 1 (kernel modules)
7, delete the '#' charachter from the line '#ppp'
8. press ctrl-s for save and ctrl-c for quit.
9. quit all the way from the menu
10. copy the modules of the ppp and slhc to /lib/modules and proceed
11. type 'lrcfg'
12. choose b (backup)
13. choose 5 (modules) and confirm when asked.
14. reboot

good luck
Yuval
