Same reason :-)
I wouldn't like to rewrite my tacacs+radius and stacker plugins to 
support new pppd chap auth hooks before it will be "released". Currently 
plugins rely on the patch to pppd 2.4.1 which adds chap hooks but their 
interface differs from what's in 2.4.2.
