I had this happen once on a used PE2650. I took the RAM modules out, cleaned 
the connectors with isopropyl, and reseated. Problem gone. YMMV. Don't 
discount the connectors as the source of trouble -- it's cheaper to fix than 
getting new RAM, which may be blameless. Again, YMMV.
