That's happening to alot of us.  Here's a bugzilla report, with some workarounds:

I posted an almost identical post to this list about two weeks ago, now... right \
after I ran up2date to get the newest RH kernel. Big mistake. I had to revert back to \
the 2.4.21-15.0.4.ELsmp kernel to get the machine to boot.
