I haven't tried but the general fix all is
mount -t nfs -o rsize=1024,wsize=1024,nolock .....
or
from command line nfsroot=.....,rsize=1024,wsize=1024,nolock
sometimes using the tcp option also has a positive effect.
These may mask bugs, but they make life easier.
