I have created a diskless client based on 2.2.15 with both the nfsv3
patch and the merge2.0 patch. The client boots perfectly until I make
the following change.

I am trying to remove /usr from the root directory in order to mount it
read-only. I did this by modifying the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit script and
inserting the following command:

mount -t nfs -o sync,rsize=8192,ro 172.25.10.17:/export/SDP/usr /usr

the mount takes longer than 3 minutes. Additionally, once the system is
up it take over 2-3 minutes to mount any other file systems from the
command line.

Is there any reason I can not remove /usr from the root file system
during boot, and why is the mount command taking so long?
