The user's home dir (/users/<username>) has mode 700. I don't know if
//<username> is a reference relative to the exported directory, but I assume
it is. The message is issued when the user brings up a hpterm terminal
window.

When the user logs in using telnet, one gets the message "fh_verify:
user/.sh_history permission failure, acc=4, error=13". This file is owned
by the user with mode 600.

It's a directory. The message is issued when the user opens up a hpterm
terminal window on the screen.

I'll try to get you telnet access to a HP box.
