I am the lead architect for the Sidewinder Firewall development team
here at Secure Computing Corporation. We use the 6650 platform as one
of our appliance firewall systems, and slot a perc3/dc controller for
RAID. An issue has been pointed out by our customers that the current
driver does not provide a notice when the a drive fails. Looking through
the source code also didn't help.

Question: Is there a status indication that maybe we can check on a
normal read/write/etc. event that will provide a drive failure status
WITHOUT having to probe the drive? This customer does not have a
person physically in the room to monitor for the 'beep' failure from the
AMI controller.

So can you help me?
