There is a certain amount of similarity: if people design their free software to use the features of MS Windows, it will be useless to us. But there are also major differences. One difference is that MS Windows doesn't run on a GNU/Linux system. So there's no danger that people will make non-free GNU/Linux systems by adding MS Windows to the system. Another difference is that everyone in our community is aware that MS Windows is not free software.
